The development site, which is based on Whittington Road in Brentwood, Essex, once consisted of 10 redundant 1950’s-built garages.
The new residential development consists of three two storey townhouses to help the need for new council housing in the local community. Part of the development is to improve the pedestrian access to the adjacent parkland and undertake much-needed landscape and urban enhancements to the area. The Council is also including the construction of 33 parking bays along Whittington Road to improve on street parking in the area.
The building is taking shape with work on the roof coverings and trusses due to commence in the coming weeks.
Brentwood Borough Council Environment, Enforcement and Housing Chair, Cllr Maria Pearson said; “It is great to see the building rising out of the ground. These garage sites have offered a prime opportunity for us to reuse the areas and build for the future and this will provide much needed homes for families and the elderly. They offer the chance to help alleviate some of the demand for new housing while also improving the environment for existing and future residents.”
