Brentwood Borough Council is to open the third round of Business Adaptation Grants from August 26 to October 3

Essex County Council has allocated an additional £350,000 in financial support to Brentwood Borough Council to help the businesses in our borough adapt to prevent further spread of COVID-19.
Grants of up to £5,000 are available and will be awarded based on individual business needs. The funding will allow businesses from all sectors to adapt their premises and operations so that they can continue to operate safely and in line with government guidance.
This money can be used in different ways, including to buy new equipment, support employees to work from home or to adapt premises.
Business owners must show that they will use the money to make changes that will protect the health and safety of employees and customers. Any businesses that have received a grant from the scheme in the past can apply again, provided they have not received a grant within the last two months.

Since the Essex Business Adaptation Grant scheme was introduced in December 2020, Brentwood Borough Council has distributed over £371,000 in grants to 355 businesses.
Leader Councillor Chris Hossack said; “Our rate of turnaround from getting these grants set up and getting the money out direct to the businesses has been second to none. I know from businesses I have spoken to, and from the Brentwood Chambers of Commerce, that the speed of delivery has been vital to help businesses adjust, adapt and innovate after the last 18 months. This particular grant is not an automatic given though, and businesses need to apply for the money. So it is vital they do so before October 3, explaining how much they think they need and why. Over £9m in grants has been distributed in Brentwood since 19 November 2020, including Essex Business Adaptation Grants, Additional Restrictions Grants, Local Restrictions Support Grants, Closed Businesses Lockdown Payments and Christmas Support Payments, which have been vital in supporting not just individual companies and jobs but the local economy as a whole.”
