Residents invited to hear Green talk from Forestry Commission and Thames Chase experts
Brentwood Borough Council is hosting a Green evening at the Town Hall on September 23 for residents to hear more about climate change, tree planting and carbon absorption from a panel of experts from the Essex Forest Initiative, Thames Chase and the Forestry Commission.
Leader Cllr Chris Hossack will open the evening at 6pm and residents will have the chance to put their questions to the panel which also includes the council’s own arborculturist Alan Marsh. Speakers include
** Tom Moat , Essex Forest initiative, “The county wide approach”
** Dave Bigden , Thames Chase, “Connectivity and partnerships”
** Lindsey Allen , Forestry Commission “Productive woodlands , UK forest standard”
Cllr Hossack said; “Our speakers have a wealth of knowledge to share and offer a full and comprehensive understanding of what we need to do to rebalance our environment and how tree planting schemes are the ideal way to achieve this. So for example,Tom is the Forestry and Woodland Officer for Essex County Council and works on the delivery of the Essex Forest Initiative which is a 5 year project aiming to support the planting of at least 375,000 trees by the end of 2025. This is a great opportunity to learn more about the schemes, designs and projects that are already underway and to ask questions of the positive impact this will have long term for all of us and future generations.”

The meeting will take place in the Council Chamber, Town Hall, Ingrave Road, Brentwood CM15 8AY.
