Press Release

Brentwood Environmental Business Alliance new website and free webinar series to help businesses lower their environmental impact

Date: 9 June 2022

A new website for the Brentwood Environmental Business Alliance (BEBA) has launched with case studies of businesses already signed up to the alliance. Later this year, a series of free webinars that support companies wanting to reduce their environmental impact will also be held.

Brentwood Environmental Business Alliance (BEBA) is an initiative bringing together businesses across the borough. Our aim is to encourage more sustainable and environmentally friendly practices by providing a platform to collaborate and learn – an inclusive place where businesses can identify information resources to help achieve their green goals.

BEBA recognises that businesses in Brentwood are at different stages of their journey to net zero carbon. To accommodate this, BEBA have developed a series of webinars for local businesses to help them at whatever stage they are at. The webinars will give the wider context of climate change, the importance of the move to net zero carbon and the key role that you can play to help achieve the net zero objectives.

Councillor Chris Hossack, Leader of Brentwood Borough Council, said: “Since its launch last October, a lot of work has been going on behind the scenes, by local businesses, to establish how BEBA will contribute effectively to the challenges around climate change and other environmental pressures right here in Brentwood.

“Our new website has been designed to promote what we are doing, provide advice and of course is a place where people can join and sign the pledge. We are delighted that this autumn, one of the board members with a specialist knowledge in climate change, will be running a webinar programme - where businesses can learn the basics in terms of what climate change is all about and how their business can make adaptations to lower their carbon footprint.

“The webinar series is free to attend and details will be on the BEBA website soon. I am very grateful to all the BEBA board members who have volunteered their time to take this project forward and share their knowledge and experience with businesses in the borough. I look forward to the next positive impact steps we are taking together.”

Jill Willis, Director of Engage and Attract, who have been instrumental in developing the new BEBA website added: “It is an absolute privilege to be part of BEBA and to work with such an array of green businesses, all doing their utmost to be part of the solution to arrest the climate emergency. For me, there is no question about this direction of travel, or what local businesses need to do to respond to it.

“We signed the BEBA Pledge, and made a commitment to going green, because we believe that all businesses regardless of size, can do their bit to have a positive impact on the environment.”

David Dahan, Senior Advisor for Auditel, who is leading the series of free webinars, said: I’m delighted that the BEBA initiative has been launched. It provides an excellent forum for the business community to share knowledge and collaborate around the common challenge of tackling climate change.

“The drive to net zero carbon can be daunting for many businesses. Hopefully, through the webinar series, Sophie Stephens from Ground Control Ltd and I, can help demystify and share our knowledge for the benefit of the Brentwood business community.”
