Press Release

Nearly 500 trees planted by volunteers from local businesses in Warley Country Park

Date: 29 November 2022

Around 40 volunteers from local businesses and organisations planted nearly 500 trees at Warley Country Park at an event organised by the Brentwood Environmental Business Alliance last week (Thursday 24 November).

As well as planting trees, the volunteers watched bushcraft demonstrations and learnt more about the woodland conservation and management taking place in the park.

Following the day, Brentwood Borough Council’s Chair of the Community, Environment & Enforcement Committee, Councillor Will Russell said: “I thoroughly enjoyed working with the Brentwood Environmental Business Alliance in the scenic Warley Country Park.

“Alan Marsh, the council’s Arboriculturist who organised the day, delivered an educational talk on woodland management and sustainable forestry and Let’s Get Out were supporting volunteers with their bushcraft skills. There were also demonstrations of the council’s mobile sawmill as well as logging, chipping, and tree planting.

“Many thanks to everyone involved including The Forestry Commission and Thames Chase for their continued support and commitment.”

Kirsty Dailly from Baker Labels added: “A big thank you to BEBA and especially Alan Marsh from Brentwood Borough Council for a very interesting and informative day on forest management.

“We loved getting our hands dirty planting dozens of trees in Warley Park and learning about how and why they manage the forests and woodlands around Brentwood. I look forward to Baker Labels being more involved with this kind of project again in the future.”
