Opportunity for local creatives to apply for arts commission to mark the Coronation of His Majesty King Charles III

Brentwood Borough Council invites proposals from creative people for a commission that celebrates the coronation of His Majesty King Charles III during 2023. The aim of the project is to work in close collaboration with communities to create a piece of artwork as a local legacy from the coronation. 

The commission is being funded by the UK Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund. 

The 3-month commission is an opportunity to generate and capture the local spirit and collective celebration of the coronation of the new King, reflecting the diverse voices of the communities in the Borough whilst highlighting local heritage and history.  

The Council is looking for inspiring project proposals from creativesof all kinds, whether you are a visual artist, writer, musician, animator, printmaker or other, as an individual, collective or company.  

Leader of Brentwood Borough Council, Councillor Chris Hossack said, “The coronation of His Majesty, King Charles III is going to be an historiceventand we arepleasedthat the UK Shared Prosperity Fund has enabled us to offer such an exciting opportunity to create this legacy for the borough. We arehoping to see a variety of proposals to help us mark the occasion.”

Proposals should be submitted by 20 February 2023 and the commission is expected to start in March and finish in June.
